What is Web Hosting?
Web hosting is the service of providing your site a home on the net. A web host owns a variety of servers that websites are hosted from. A web server is basically a computer designed to store and make sites available for online viewing. They are usually associated with monthly or yearly costs. Its like paying rent for your website.
How Much Does It Cost?
Honestly, it varies a lot. High traffic / high demand sites have to pay some pretty heavy fees to keep their sites up, but the vast majority of sites don’t demand that much from their host. Small businesses, blogs, and personal sites, can easily get hosting for $2 - $10/month.

I’ve only used two hosting services in my history of designing. My current is far superior to my first host. I currently use DreamHost.
