I’d like to introduce you guys to bbpress, which is a php internet forum made by Matt Mullenweg of Wordpress. Bbpress is a simple and extensible forum package that is based on the same ideals as Wordpress.
What is Great about bbpress?
- Fast Coding - The base code only cover the basics needed out of a forum software. For more features, plugins are available. You’ll only have exactly what you need, and no more. The code is lean, and quick.
- Simple - It is seriously simple. At times, maybe a little too simple. But a few minutes installing plugins, and you’re good to go. I’m looking forward to their future development.
- Customizable templates - This isn’t anything unique, but it is fairly simply with bbpress.
- Plugins - Just like wordpress, plugins out the ass (well, not really yet, but they’re being developed by users)
- No spam - Use their wonderful spam client Akismet to protect your forum from spam.
- RSS Feeds - This is nice…! Subscribe to your favorite thread, and read it with your feed reader.
- Integration - Ties in really well with Wordpress. They can share a database.
- SEO - I see a lot of possibility with bbpress and SEO.
