6 Must Have FREE SEO Keyword Research Tools

I’ve been keeping up with Courtney’s site, and following some of the information he’s been teaching. I thought I’d put together a nice list of the best free keyword research tools.

Targeting a good keyword, can really help the success of your site. The concept is to find a high search, high advertising, and low competition keyword phrase, and then gearing your site with SEO techniques to get top rankings in Google for that phrase.

Google Suggest: This won’t be used to directly research a particular keyword, but can help pick similar keywords. As you type, it provides suggested searches. A very useful tool for keyword hunting.

WordTracker Free: This is a decent quality keyword research tool. It is not as good or as accurate as the tools you have to pay for, but for beginners, this will get the job done. The purpose of this tool is to determine the search volume of your keyword. You’re looking for something thats at least 200.

Keyword Difficulty Check: Next move on to this tool. This tool will look at your competition, and give a rating on how difficult a keyword is. The higher the number, the harder. A beginner wants something around 50. The lower, the easier. Something 80% + will be hard for a beginner.

Google Adsense Keyword Tool: This is a great tool to research advertising information for your key word. You’re looking for a keyword with higher advertiser competition, and a higher CPC. This information is how much advertisers are paying for a particular keyword.

Google: And finally, Google, the big boy of all the search engines. It is good to search for your keyword. Search for your keyword like this: “keyword” This will show you your competition for a given keyword. Look for things like blogs, keywords in title, or if the site is broad or focused just on the keyword.

dnScoop: This one might be a little unconventional to some. I don’t use it for direct keyword research, but rather to research my competition. This will give you an idea of how solid your competition’s position may be.

Hopefully these will help with your keyword search and selecting a good keyword to target.

Stop Duplicate Content on WordPress with Robots.txt
Is Duplicate Content an Issue? Yes, you bet it is. It can negatively effect your search engine listings in three ways. Google selects a version that may not be your preferred copy.
